Abstract

This study examines the implementation of Quezon City Ordinance No. SP-2955, S-2020, in Barangay Sta. Lucia, Novaliches, and its impact on local peace and order, particularly concerning public drinking. The ordinance prohibits minors from consuming alcohol and penalizes those who illegally provide it to them. The research aims to assess the ordinance's effectiveness in reducing public drinking incidents and to identify solutions to assist Barangay officials in addressing this issue.​ This study employs a quantitative descriptive research method to assess the effectiveness of Quezon City Ordinance No. 2955 in mitigating street crimes in Barangay Sta. Lucia, Novaliches, Quezon City. Descriptive research systematically describes variables without establishing causal relationships, providing deeper insights into real-world issues. Quantitative research involves the empirical investigation of observable phenomena via statistical, mathematical, or computational techniques. By utilizing this approach, the study aims to gather numerical data on the ordinance's enforcement and its impact on street crime rates, thereby offering an objective evaluation of its effectiveness in enhancing public safety within the barangay.​ This study offers valuable insights into the effectiveness of Quezon City Ordinance No. SP-2955, S-2020, in addressing public drinking in Barangay Sta. Lucia, Novaliches. By analyzing the demographic characteristics of respondents, evaluating perceptions of the ordinance's effectiveness, and identifying key challenges, stakeholders can make informed decisions and implement targeted interventions to enhance public safety and community well-being. Based on the data gathered, the researchers identified several key findings regarding the demographic profile of respondents in Barangay Sta. Lucia, Novaliches, Quezon City. These findings offer valuable insights into the community's composition and are instrumental in assessing the effectiveness of Ordinance No. 2955, Series of 2020, in addressing public drinking issues within the barangay.
