Abstract

Thrifting refers to purchasing second-hand items, often in good condition, at a discounted price. This study explores the impact of quality pre-owned apparel on the buying decisions of ABM students at Bestlink College of the Philippines. It examines students' perceptions of thrifted clothing and identifies key factors influencing their purchasing choices. The research aims to assess how quality, affordability, brand perception, and personal preferences shape their decisions. This study adopts a descriptive quantitative research design, surveying 197 ABM students selected through simple random sampling. Questionnaires serve as the primary tool for data collection. The results highlight key findings on the impact of pre-owned apparel based on quality, price, and place. Quality received a mean rating of 3.52, with students assessing fabric conditions such as fading, pilling, or stretching. Price had a mean of 3.08, with respondents negotiating for better deals. Place scored a mean of 3.40, emphasizing the importance of well-organized clothing displays for easier selection. Additionally, 13% of respondents recognized that purchasing higher-quality items at lower prices helps them save money. The study recommends exploring alternative saving strategies for necessities, essential items, bills, and clothing. This study emphasizes the importance of understanding the impact of quality pre-owned apparel on buying decisions to better comprehend consumer behavior. Ensuring that apparel quality aligns with its price allows buyers to make cost-effective choices. Additionally, regular budget reviews, such as monthly assessments, can help track expenses and improve financial management. The findings provide valuable insights to guide students in making informed decisions when purchasing pre-owned apparel.
