Abstract

An automated smart home system provides assurance to society by addressing security concerns within residential environments. A safe home allows homeowners to live with peace of mind, primarily by reducing the need for constant monitoring of their surroundings and various parts of the house. The developed prototype includes outlets, light bulbs, and other essential home components. To enhance home safety and security, this study incorporates microcontrollers, enabling the prototype to function through a Wi-Fi connection for remote control. Applying the Experimental Prototyping Methodology, the researchers developed an automated smart home system. This methodology was used to create both 2D and 3D project designs as prototype representations. A cloud-based remote control was implemented to manage the prototype. For data collection, a survey technique was employed, utilizing a 4-point Likert scale analyzed through a descriptive method. The study also applied the Purposive Sampling Technique, with 50 respondents from Brgy. 167 Llano, Caloocan, to assess its demographic profile. The results indicate that the prototype has undergone functional testing. The sensors and components used have been carefully integrated into the design, with properly placed wiring connections to prevent malfunctions during testing. The prototype successfully transmitted data during trials. The ESP32 microprocessor was tested and successfully connected to Wi-Fi, ensuring it executed its required functions correctly. The automated switching process within the Wi-Fi connection operates within 1–5 seconds, depending on the network speed. Additionally, the Bluetooth module, operating on a 2.45GHz frequency band, effectively connected to the Arduino Uno and responded well to the Home Security mobile application within a 10-meter range. The development and discoveries the system to how it works and ability to do. The various part of prototype and arrangements of device will made function as well as it is right capabilities and tested functionality. The prototype is effective in modern house who want providing home automation and security using the ESP32 and Arduino. The system can automatically control the devices using application that needs to connection of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. They have two securities, also provides camera and door securities to protection of the house. The system is functional according to its objective and perception of the clients.
