The teaching and learning of languages could be affected by this study. Grammar instruction should be included in all language classes, according to language professors. In order to improve their writing abilities, language learners should also be exposed to more varied writing projects. Originality/Value: The creation of an evidence-based remedial English program to enhance the academic writing abilities and English language proficiency of second language learners in higher education (Catabay, 2023). This research assessed the impact of an English Remedial Program on Grade 6 students at Tandang Sora Elementary School using non-experimental quantitative methods. It involved 77 students selected through quota sampling and employed survey questionnaires, percentage, weighted mean, and Spearman's rho for data analysis. The study revealed that 71.43% of respondents use mobile phones for communication. Academic challenges include difficulty grasping the main idea in English (weighted mean 3.75), writing speed (3.60), clear expression in spoken English (3.50), and enjoyment in reading (3.73). Writing in English (3.30) and practicing new words in spoken English (3.53) are also common challenges among students. The researchers discovered that there is a significant relationship between the existing remedial program and academic performance. The respondents reported that, in terms of reading, the students look up unknown vocabulary and try to understand the meaning of unknown words or phrases. In terms of writing, the students can write a good academic paragraph and write notes, messages, letters, or reports in English. In terms of speaking, the students make a list of expressions and words to learn and love participating in class using the English language. According to social cognitive theory, the MKO (more knowledgeable others), which is self-explanatory, can be further defined as any person or thing typically thought of as a teacher, coach, or older adult, but could also be a peer or a younger person whose capabilities, knowledge, or ability are significantly higher than the learner’s level, relative to a specific task, process, or concept. The researchers proposed an improvement plan to enhance the remedial program and foster a sense of belonging in class.
