Abstract

This study investigates the perceptions of residents, drivers, and traffic enforcers regarding various aspects of traffic safety education and enforcement. It aims to identify areas for improvement in existing initiatives to enhance road safety and compliance. The respondents of the study include residents of the community, drivers who use the roads regularly, and traffic enforcers responsible for enforcing traffic laws and regulations. The study utilizes convenience sampling with a descriptive method. The researchers will request permission from the research adviser to distribute the survey questionnaire. The respondents of the study will be 20 residents, 20 drivers, and 20 law enforcers who frequently pass through Novaliches Proper, Quezon City. The researchers administered the questionnaire after securing permission with the help of the research adviser. They also asked permission from the respondents to conduct the study. After that, the researchers distributed the questionnaires to their chosen respondents and guided them on how to answer the questionnaires. In summary, this paper highlights that the lack of dedicated bicycle lanes and cycling infrastructure discourages safe cycling and increases the risk of accidents, with the highest weighted mean score of 3.28. The lack of community engagement and support undermines the success of traffic enforcement campaigns, with the highest weighted mean score of 3.25. Additionally, the lack of awareness among educators and parents about the importance of traffic safety education, along with inadequate enforcement of traffic safety measures, leads to a lack of accountability and compliance among drivers and pedestrians, with the highest weighted mean score of 3.3. It is recommended that residents advocate for greater accessibility and availability of such resources within the community, given the overwhelming agreement regarding the restricted access to traffic safety education materials and programs. Drivers should actively support programs that use technology to improve education and engagement, as they firmly believe that technology and digital platforms should be better integrated into efforts to educate people about traffic safety. Traffic enforcers should support the installation of feedback and assessment systems, as they recognize the difficulty of evaluating the success of traffic safety education initiatives.
