Abstract

The School Management System: Library Management System with Online Reservation and Renewal Using AI-Based Adaptive Learning and Skill Development is designed to enhance the operational efficiency and accessibility of school libraries. This system offers a range of modern features, including online book reservation and renewal, real-time notifications, access to e-books and academic journals, and a centralized digital library database. Integrating AI-based adaptive learning, the system personalizes recommendations and learning materials to support individual student skill development. By streamlining library transactions and providing tailored educational resources, the system aims to foster a more engaging, efficient, and learner-centered academic environment. The development of the project followed the Agile Scrum methodology, employing iterative sprints to ensure the early and continuous integration of user feedback. Initial consultations with key stakeholders—particularly the head librarian—were conducted to clarify system requirements and define core functionalities. Throughout the sprints, both front-end and back-end components were developed, focusing on critical features such as reservation management, penalty notifications, a book locator tool, eBook integration, and real-time updates. The system was also designed to interface seamlessly with external platforms, including the Student Information System (SIS) for accurate student records and the Logistics System to streamline the procurement and cataloging of new books. To maintain code quality and accelerate deployment, automated Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines were implemented using GitHub Actions, enabling rapid, reliable, and consistent feature delivery across development cycles. A comprehensive Library Management System was implemented, offering essential features such as item reservations, renewals, and access to digital resources, including e-books and journals. The system also automated numerous administrative tasks, significantly enhancing convenience for both students and staff. Real-time notifications for penalties, book availability, and wait-list updates improved user engagement. Additionally, the integration of an AI-powered adaptive learning component enabled personalized resource recommendations, further enriching the user experience and increasing overall system utilization. The integration of artificial intelligence and automated workflows into the Learning Management System (LMS) significantly enhanced operational efficiency and transformed user interaction by delivering personalized, adaptive resources tailored to individual learning needs. However, the implementation process also highlighted several critical challenges, including the need for strong stakeholder engagement, clearly defined requirements, and ongoing responsiveness to user feedback. Future enhancements may focus on expanding AI capabilities and improving mobile integration to further increase accessibility and user convenience.
