Abstract

To meet the demands of modern education, manual record-keeping and paper-based reporting are no longer sufficient. Therefore, implementing a School Management System (SMS) is essential, especially for Bestlink College of the Philippines. This research proposes an advanced SMS that integrates Business Intelligence (BI) and Management Information System (MIS) features, along with a Student Ledger and General Reports. The system aims to improve data accuracy, streamline administrative tasks, and provide valuable insights for strategic decision-making. The goal is to develop a reliable, user-friendly platform that effectively evaluates student performance, manages data, and generates comprehensive reports to support educators and administrators in fulfilling the college’s mission of delivering exceptional education. The development of the School Management System (SMS) at Bestlink College followed an Agile project management approach, organized into distinct stages to ensure clarity and efficiency. During the Concept phase, the Product Owner defined the project’s scope and objectives. The Inception stage involved assembling a dedicated development team, assessing resource availability, and providing the necessary tools. The Iteration phase, the most extensive, focused on developing features tailored to the college’s requirements. In the Release phase, the predevelopment team offered ongoing system support and addressed any issues that arose. Finally, the Retirement stage involved quality assurance testing to verify that the software was fully functional and ready for deployment. The implementation of the Student Management System (SMS) at Bestlink College of the Philippines has automated essential administrative functions such as fee processing and report generation, significantly reducing manual workload. This automation has enhanced the allocation of resources and overall operational efficiency, which in turn supports improved academic outcomes. By centralizing student and financial information, the system increases transparency and accountability, enabling accurate reporting and informed decision-making. Overall, the SMS contributes to a more streamlined and effective educational environment. The integration of management information systems, student ledgers, expense monitoring, cost allocation, budgeting, and forecasting into a unified School Management System (SMS) represents a major advancement in the financial management framework at Bestlink College of the Philippines. This centralized system streamlines financial processes and addresses the evolving challenges faced by educational institutions in ensuring accurate, efficient, and transparent financial operations.
