Abstract

In today’s society, crimes involving individuals and property have become increasingly common, raising serious concerns about public safety and the effectiveness of security measures. Police visibility plays a vital role in deterring criminal activity, reducing crime rates, and boosting the public’s confidence in their safety, especially in public spaces and at night.

Phase 8, North Fairview in Quezon City is a densely populated barangay with numerous residential areas and commercial establishments. Despite its development, the area occasionally faces unexpected incidents such as theft, robbery, and violations of city ordinances, including curfew violations, public drinking, and smoking in restricted areas. These recurring issues highlight the pressing need for consistent police presence and community-based security initiatives. This study, titled “Creating a Rationalized Patrol Plan,” focuses on developing a strategic approach to maximize the effectiveness of patrol resources by analyzing crime patterns, addressing community concerns, and improving operational performance. The main objective is to formulate a rationalized patrol plan for Phase 8, Barangay North Fairview, Quezon City.

The research utilizes a descriptive method, which systematically describes and interprets the current situation. This method is well-suited for exploring community members’ perceptions regarding the impact of the patrol plan on crime reduction and overall safety in the area. The results show the raw data collected from the survey, which are vital as they represent the main findings of the research. Careful analysis of this data is necessary to ensure accurate and dependable conclusions.

The majority of respondents were aged 18 to 25 years old, mostly female, and had attained a high school education. Across all groups, there was strong agreement that visible police presence is more effective in maintaining public safety than relying solely on surveillance cameras. The data highlights the crucial role of police visibility in deterring crime.

Respondents also acknowledged that the implemented patrol plan has helped reduce crime and other community concerns in the area. However, there remains a challenge in fully addressing community feedback and concerns. To enhance the patrol plan’s effectiveness, it is recommended to adopt community engagement strategies that foster cooperation between residents and law enforcement, ultimately supporting crime reduction efforts. This chapter focuses on improving the Patrol Plan for Phase 8, Barangay North Fairview, Quezon City. The study seeks to reduce crime in this area, which is under the jurisdiction of Station 5 of the Quezon City Police District. The main goals of the police patrol operations include crime prevention, ensuring public safety, rapid response to emergencies, and regular monitoring of high-crime zones.
