Abstract

This study examines the challenges caused by insufficient training equipment and facilities that hinder effective skill development in education and training programs. The lack of essential resources, such as modern equipment, adequate space, proper maintenance, and updated technology, adversely affects training quality and limits learners’ readiness for their professional fields. This study aims to evaluate the Bureau of Fire Protection’s (BFP) volunteer firefighter training program by examining the influence of demographic factors such as age, sex, civil status, and educational attainment. Understanding these factors is key to assessing the program’s effectiveness and identifying opportunities for improvement. The study seeks to explore the relationship between these personal characteristics and training outcomes to determine how well the BFP supports skill development among its volunteers. The research design encompasses a detailed examination of key components, including the study respondents, sampling techniques, and the development, validation, administration, and retrieval of data collection instruments. The study involved fifty (50) respondents, comprising BFP personnel, volunteer firefighters, and residents of North Caloocan City. Demographic analysis indicated that most respondents were male and fell within the 26 to 33-year age range. The study’s findings showed that key aspects of the BFP volunteer firefighter training program, namely basic and advanced firefighting training and physical fitness, were strongly endorsed by respondents. However, a major concern was the insufficient training on fire equipment and inadequate facilities. Respondents highlighted the lack of essential equipment and proper facilities as significant barriers to effective training. In response, the researchers recommend mandatory fire safety seminars for all residents, emphasizing proper usage of various fire equipment.
