Abstract

The purpose of this study is to collect and analyze the challenges encountered during hybrid
modality that will affect the academic performance of students. Hybrid-modality methods,
which combine at least two single-modality methodologies, are gaining favor for improving
student academic performance. (Zhang, Yifu Li, Zhongchao Tan 2021). The challenges
encountered by students during online class and face-to-face classes. According to Khalil et
al. (2020), some challenges they encountered during sessions and online included
methodological, content perception, technical, and behavioral issues.

The result of this study is based on the data gathered. Part one: demographic profile of
respondents. The respondents are mostly 18 years old, and the number of female
respondents is greater than the male, with a total of 50 respondents. Most students have
10,000-20,000 expenses every month, with a rank of 1. Part two challenges encountered
during online classes in terms of internet connection: respondents selected "strongly agree"
that internet connection always affected their academic performance. In terms of time
management and resources, respondents selected "Agree" that time management and
resources often affected their academic performance. Part three challenges encountered
during face-to-face class in terms of finances: respondents selected agreed that finances
often affected their academic performance. In terms of attendance and class participation,
most of the students selected "Disagree" that attendance and class participation sometimes
affected their academic performance. This recommendation helps the students to face the
different challenges during the hybrid modality. Manage your time, learn study skills, Seek
academic advising, manage your finances, and be self-motivated.

All the data gathered is based on the questionnaire. Part one shows the demographic profile
of the respondents in terms of sex, age, section, and monthly expenses. Part two is about the
challenges encountered during online classes in terms of Internet connection, time
management, and resources. Part three shows the challenges encountered during face-to-
face class in terms of finances, attendance, and class participation.
