Abstract

Twenty-five years ago, Francisca Reyes researched folk dance. In 1927, Philippine folk dance was revived when Dr. Jorge Bagobo sent people to Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao to study Cultural dances. But it seems that the extinction of cultural dances is needed to revive again. This study aims to revive the cultural dances and use them as a gateway to promote Philippine tourism.

The research method design utilized in this study is a descriptive research design. The researchers conducted and focused on the 1st year students and Physical Education teachers under the Department of Tourism Management at Bestlink College of the Philippines. Using the 4-point Likert scale, all numbers are equally valued for verbal interpretation, symbol, and ranking. The researchers used the simple random sampling technique and conducted the data through survey questionnaires in quantitative analysis of cultural dance: the missing piece of Philippine tourism.

The respondents strongly agree that cultural dances are important in the tourism industry because they are the spirit of Philippine Culture, tell stories about our history, and keep the people's culture alive. They also strongly agree that discussing cultural dances informatively in P.E. subjects, performing cultural dances in a big event held in the Philippines, such as the Miss Universe pageant, and creating an article that discusses cultural dance can promote Philippine tourism. They agree that the history of cultural dances can significantly impact future information provision. The respondents strongly agree that cultural dances can attract visitors or tourists to the Philippines, promote the preservation of human diversity, and boost the economy's revenue.

Cultural dances can be revived and used as a gateway in promoting Philippine tourism.
