Abstract

Student retention is the number of students that re-enroll from one year to the next is how institutions determine their student retention rate. The practice of student retention includes everything the institution does to affect this rate and attempt to keep students from dropping out before earning their degrees, student promotion is the student who promoted to the next level, but students will not be promoted to the next grade until they meet the minimum promotion requirements. Student retention does not necessarily have to be placed in a particular student group based on age or academic performance. The researcher aims to discover the student promotion and retention rates of BSED mathematics at Bestlink College of the Philippines, this study utilized (what methods we used either qualitative or quantitative) that focuses on identifying and analyzing what are the factors affecting student promotion and retention rates. Most of the data will be gathered through multiple in-depth interviews of 3 selected participants. And one of major problems encountered by the student was the school environment problem that can affect the decision making of the students, is not easy to find the elements that can increase retention rates because universities all over the world struggle to keep students. The study investigates important variables that affect students' retention and support intentions as well as their happiness with their educational experience. we find out that promotion rates here in the Bestlink College of the Philippines in the mathematics program is much higher than the retention rates they are factors or problems students encountered that can may affect the retention and make it increase. So, we find some guidelines or solution to countered it. The school demand is the most problem of the student and school environment is the most factor that can affect the decision making of the students the important support like seminars and workshops for students.
