Challenges Encountered by the Kindergarten Teachers During the New Normal in Muzon Elementary School
Vol.3, No.2
Abstract
In March 2020, the Philippines' schools were compelled to abruptly switch to a New Normal Learning strategy for delivering education during the COVID-19 Pandemic. New normal learning education is an unusual or unexpected way to deliver education.
This survey research was carried out to understand more about the difficulties kindergarten teachers at Muzon (Pabahay 2000) Elementary School faced when implementing the New Normal Learning strategy. Fourteen (14) kindergarten teachers were chosen to participate in the study using the purposive sample method. A survey questionnaire served as the main tool for data collection. Percentages and a weighted mean were used to examine the collected data. Based on the investigation.
It was found that most respondents had experience giving out modules with answer keys, which led to the modules not being extensively studied but the answers being copied. They encountered significant issues with their teaching platform and worked on an alternative activity sheet while awaiting the modules' delivery. Based on these findings, we recommend that local governments conduct more seminars and orientations on managing problems without relying on and waiting for activity sheets. Teachers should be regularly monitored by school administrators while conducting online classes and given technical assistance and support, particularly in terms of their instructional demands.
