Abstract

This Green Technology Smart Home System design offers a range of capabilities that enable the control of various devices through the virtual assistant technology of Alexa, mobile applications, and sets of manual switches to address common issues such as Wi-Fi disconnection, security issues, and main system failure in smart home systems. The system utilizes microcontrollers such as ESP32 for the automation system, while the security system comprises of Arduino-Uno for the RFID and Laser Security of the door lock automation. Solar Power System is integrated to address electrical power outages. The system provides beneficiaries with convenience and security while also being environmentally friendly, which is beneficial to society.

The researcher used the Experimental Prototyping Methodology to construct this smart home system. Through this methodology, 2D and 3D Project designs were developed for prototype visualizations using the software application, specifically Blender. The Arduino IDE platform was the firmware used to implement software source code with C++ Language to the microprocessor, while the software application fabrication for the Home Security application of the RFID Door Lock was developed using the MIT App Inventor. The purposive sampling technique is used to analyze the demographic profile.

The 4-point Likert Scale Method was used to interpret the collected data.

The functional examination in the utilization of sensors and component peripherals show the detailed design, circuit connection, and data from testing. The ESP32 microprocessor was checked and successfully connected to the Wi-Fi. The Automated Switching process of Smart Home System within the 20-30 feet range of Alexa Echo dot took about 1-5 seconds depending on the speed of Wi-Fi connection.

The Bluetooth module with a 2.45GHz Frequency band connected to the Arduino Uno responds well to the Home Security mobile application within the 10-meter range.

The design meets its goal by automatically controlling devices via Alexa, with the best response depending on the Wi-Fi connection signal. The two security features, especially the laser security, provide an additional layer of protection to the house and act as an alarm. The Alexa-based Smart Home System with RFID and Laser Security using ESP32 and Arduino is an effective microcontroller unit that makes smart home automation and security with solar energy technology functional.
