Classroom Environment: Effects on Teaching and Learning

Abstract

INTRODUCTION

Every student needs a proper environment that can help them to focus on their studies. It plays a very important role. It is one of the factors affecting the foundation of a strong teacher-student relationship, from the way they move or act inside the classroom and also the way the students learn. This study involves how important the layout of the classroom is and how teachers’ classroom management affects the students’ performance inside the class.

METHODS

The research used descriptive design to gather information on current conditions and situation. By giving survey questionnaires to the respondents, they answered the given research problem about Classroom Environment. It had two categories, classroom layout and classroom management. We distributed survey questionnaires to the students of Grade 11 Mapagmahal and Grade 12 Makatwiran of Anuling National High School. Researchers used the census as a method in collecting respondents. It indicated that the total population of Grade 11 Mapagmahal and Grade 12 Maktwiran are the respondents of this study.

RESULTS

The researchers found that the environment of the classroom improved the participation of the students in a class. They felt comfortable when the classroom is clean and they are seated in the first or second row. The environment of the classroom also affects the way teachers give activities based on the size of the classroom. They teach better when all things are properly kept. They also used different seating arrangement to teach well.

DISCUSSIONS

The research demonstrates the effectiveness of classroom management and layout of the classroom. They just need to add some improvements like lighting and unique strategies to make the students stay organized with their personal belongings and in their room. Also, they need to change the bad habits or behavior of the students.
