INTRODUCTION
Project R.E.A.C.T (Reading Enhancement Achieved Through Continuous Training) is conducted to eliminate the rate of non-readers and those in frustration level among the Grade 7students in Carmona National High School.
METHODS
A survey-questionnaire method was used in this program. Clients answered the survey form about their perspective in reading as well as the availability of reading materials at home. Reading sessions were conducted to 40 students. Each session was assisted by a reading teacher. Participants took the pre-test and post-test for both silent and oral reading.
RESULTS
Many of our clients were able to finish the program with desirable results. The number of readers in the frustration level decreased by 60%, and no non-readers was recorded after the process.
DISCUSSIONS
Project R.E.A.C.T. gives the students a spark of hope to upgrade their reading skills. Through the continuous support and effort provided, this program creates an opportunity for students to have renewed enthusiasm in both reading and studying.
