Abstract

INTRODUCTION

Our community encounters many problems due to scattered Used Engine Oil. It can pollute the land and air, causing sickness like cough and asthma especially to the children. Because of these, we think of beneficial things to lessen the negative effects of used engine oil. One of the solutions proposed isto make it as a marker, a whiteboard marker ink to be precise, as an alternative for commercial whiteboard marking ink.

METHODS

The materials used in this study were taken from the locality. These are the procedures in making charcoal and used engine oil as an alternative to whiteboard marker ink: Twelve ml charcoal was pounded into its finest pieces. 36 ml used engine oil and 11 ml of cooking oil were mixed thoroughly with the charcoal. After the solution was mixed, it was transferred to a refillable marker container using a medicine dropper.

RESULTS

The acceptability test of the charcoal and used engine oil as an alternative to whiteboard marker ink compared to commercial whiteboard marker ink was performed with school children in Miguel Aranda Memorial Elementary School as participants

DISCUSSIONS

The researcher suggested a further study for the improvement of the Charcoal and Used Engine Oil as Alternative to Whiteboard Marker Ink. We ask support from the school, community officials, and NGOs for more financial support to improve the product by making it more lasting. This research can help us save the environment.
