Abstract

INTRODUCTION

The study aimed to determine the challenges in campus journalism in the District of Padre Garcia SY 2015-2018.

METHODS

The respondents were 40 school paper advisers from seventeen (17) public elementary schools from Padre Garcia District. The study used the descriptive method of research.

The main instrument used was a researcher - made questionnaire as a basic tool in gathering the needed data in the assessment of challenges met in campus journalism.

RESULTS

The school paper advisers differed significantly in their assessment on the challenges in campus journalism in terms of training and selection of staff, production of the school paper and funding, and selection of staff and funding. There were no significant differences in their assessment of the other variables.

DISCUSSIONS

There were significant relationships as perceived by the school paper advisers. With respect to other variables in terms of training and workshops, a number of teachers involved in the campus, the production of the school paper, and a number of teachers involved in campus journalism, there were no significant relationships between their profile and challenges in campus journalism.
