Abstract

INTRODUCTION

The focus of this study is to identify the challenges and coping mechanism of the students of Wenceslao Trinidad Memorial National High School who are living with broken families to see how these affect the students in terms of the social, academic, financial, emotional, social, psychological, spiritual aspect.

METHODS

A narrative qualitative method was used. Using a qualitative approach, the researcher conducted one-on-one discussions with 12 students with broken families of Wenceslao Trinidad Memorial National High School to identify their challenges.

RESULTS

The findings revealed that WTMNHS students living in broken families have a lot of untold stories. They are struggling in the social, academic, financial, emotional, and psychological aspects but they managed to cope with these challenges because of their spiritual aspect.

DISCUSSIONS

The results demonstrate that students living in broken families are struggling in social, academic, financial, emotional, and psychological aspects. Spiritual aspect has a coping mechanism that helps students deal with their challenges in life. This study gave a clue for the ESP Department in creating program/s that will intentionally show the students with broken families that God is the Father to the fatherless.
