Abstract

INTRODUCTION

Absenteeism in school is the habit of staying away from school without providing a genuine or any reason for not attending classes. Absenteeism is a truant behavior that affects the performance among students. The main purpose of this study is to collect data on why pupils commit absences, the main causes, and possible solutions in the said problem.

METHODS

Participants of this study were pupils and parents of San Vicente Elementary School with their School Form 2 or the attendance of the pupils as the bases for their behavior. The researchers employed a descriptive research design. They distributed survey questionnaires to the participants.

RESULTS

The parents should encourage their child to go to school. They need to send to their child to school by letting them know the advantages of having an education. Parent and teachers should be aware of the contributing factors that affect absenteeism of Grade One pupils in SVES.

DISCUSSIONS

The research focused on the attendance of pupils and the answers of parents of San Vicente Elementary School. It was highly recommended that the researchers must practice sustainability and confidentiality of the data.
