INTRODUCTION
This research purposely attempts to develop a strategic intervention to help pupils in a broken home cope with the situation and achieve more in school. This also presents the different effects of broken family relationships on a pupil's academic and behavioral performance. The researchers chose to undertake this particular research topic after observing that almost all of the grade levels in Balanga Elementary School for the school year 2017-2018 has had a learner in the same family situation. Prior to that, the information mentioned that these pupils acted differently and performed lowly than the previous years that they are in the school.
METHODS
Five advisers were the participants in a focus group discussion which revolved around the problems they encountered with their pupils from a broken family and its relation to their performance in studies.
RESULTS
The research findings indicate that a broken family has a great impact on the pupil's education or academic standing, behavior, social skills, and physical well-being. This may stem from a number of factors, including instability in the home environment, inadequate financial resources, and inconsistent routines (Green, 2017). Absenteeism, lack of interest and focus in class activities, disconnect from friends, unfinished assignments and projects, and lack of school materials/snacks or food were the problems encountered.
DISCUSSIONS
The Heart strategy is pupil-teacher counseling; the Home strategy is a home visitation process, and The Gift strategy is skill strengthening method -these were the interventions made by the participants of this study to help raise the academic and behavioral performance of the concerned pupils.
