Blended Learning Environment: Students' and Teachers' Perspectives

INTRODUCTION
The idea of blended learning has changed the environment of all teaching and learning in higher education. Communication and information technologies provide a great impact by means of access to digital tools and collaborative communication in all courses. The blending of technology and pedagogy has produced a wide range of approaches to teaching and learning.
METHODS
This paper evaluated teachers and students' perception of the success and challenges of BLE on their teaching and learning. The survey questionnaire was the instrument used for data collection. A total of 25 teachers and 70 students of Colegio ng Lungsod ng Batangas enrolled in the course Bachelor of Elementary for the period of 2018-2019 served as the respondents of this study.
RESULTS
This research sought to examine the insights of teachers and students on the success and challenges of BLE in teaching and learning. This paper established that BLE possesses positive results rather than challenges as revealed by the data of the respondents. Respondents have shown more success perceptions on the use of BLE in teaching and learning. The successes gathered from the literature and proved by the respondents could be a key element and background idea for the adoption and implementation of BLE in elementary schools, since BLE is not yet implemented in lower education. The investigation took its initial point in teachers’ and students’ perception focused on examining the successes and challenges of BLE. Various variables were also studied due to their probable effect on the blended learning environment. Unfortunately, these variables were found to be not significant in the success and challenges of BLE.
DISCUSSIONS
To promote BLE in teaching and learning for elementary, an action plan was crafted by the researcher which included key areas of concern, specific objectives, activities/strategies, persons involved, time frame, sources of fund and success indicators. Revisiting and intricate revision is recommended for the viability of the said action plan for future academic endeavors. Recommendations to school managers, district supervisors, and teachers were expressed to device a blended learning initiative. This study could give additional inputs considering that BLE is being used more in the education arena and its growing in popularity. Further studies can be conducted related to this area. The results of this endeavor can be used to help students and teachers in other schools who are actively engaged in their academic endeavors.
