Behavioral Problems Encountered by English Teachers in Doã‘A Maria Laurel Platon Memorial School: Its Relationships to Pupils' Academic Performance

INTRODUCTION
This study focused on the behavioral problems encountered by the elementary English teachers in the public schools, the effects of the said problem in the teaching-learning process inside the classroom, and the factors that affect the academic performance of pupils. The remedies, the causes, and the effects of the problems encountered by the teachers of English shall serve as the focus of the present study.
METHODS
The researcher utilized the descriptive method with the questionnaire as the data gathering instrument. The respondents of the study were the English teachers and pupils from Doña Maria Laurel Platon Memorial School. There were 10 teacher respondents and 471 pupil respondents.
RESULTS
There is a significant difference among the factors that affect the academic performance of the pupils in Doña Maria Laurel Platon Memorial School in English between the Teacher factor and the other five factors, Environment Factor and the Home, Parent and Teacher Factors, as well as between Home factor and the other five factors: pupil factor, teacher factor, school facilities, parent factor and environment factor.
DISCUSSIONS
English teachers should provide the pupils with interesting activities that would stimulate their creativity and analytical thinking towards good performance in English. Teachers, parents and school administrators must work together to develop the English communication skills of the pupils through supporting suitable school programs.
