INTRODUCTION
AP 7, with history as its core area, seems boring and monotonous to most G7 students. Complaints about recalling facts and significant articles related to historical accounts lobby teacher's record, annoying results of the test, and, most significantly, the cumulative GPA of their quarterly grades alarmed the researchers, leading them to delve in this study. Thus, it resulted in the teacher's positive meaningful creation of coining a reward scheme, termed as Bahaghari, as a good source of motivation in ensuring students’ learning performance in AP 7. It is crafted to enhance the motivation span of G7 students by providing colored chips with corresponding points and incentives to those who are actively performing, participating, attending, behaving and complying in the said subject area. This term resembles the seven colors of a rainbow. The researchers opted to utilize this reward scheme, in the end, attaining best academic performance of the G7 students. Even all other grade levels in the different areas of the curriculum can adapt this reward scheme. Finally, the researcher tailored other sustainability measures to enhance the reward system which could help our students appreciate the subject more, increase their academic performance, apply and transfer the learnings and insights they acquired.
METHODS
Descriptive quantitative type of research was utilized in this study with survey questionnaire as the main instrument in data gathering.
RESULTS
The level of performance of G7 increased from the 1st to 2nd quarters. The students wanted to learn as much as they can because of the reward scheme inside the classroom, indicating that they have performed. As reinforcement, they attended classes regularly due to the appealing effects of the reward scheme. Obviously, there is a significant relationship between the level of performance. Thus, it must be sustained as a ground for productivity and enhancement.
DISCUSSIONS
It signifies that the use of reward affects the level of performance of the students. It indicates that motivation plays an important role in developing the interests of the students to enjoy learning. It also shows that students attended classes regularly. This is because of the excitement brought by the rewards they can receive and gain in the day's discussion. It further reveals that the students dislike skipping classes because of the incentives and rewards they have received. It also shows that there a significant relationship between the level of performance and the scheme used. Therefore, the use of the reward scheme is effective.
