Abstract

INTRODUCTION

The researchers are motivated to study if the awareness of challenges and influences of globalization on K to 12 has an effect on the teachers-students perception of the curriculum. This would test if the challenges and influences of globalization can influence the respondents. This study is important since the subjects are teachers-students and had a connection with the most influential facts of education.

METHODS

These respondents were chosen using simple random sampling from a junior and senior high of different level through draw lots to have an equal chance of being selected as part of the sample. The questionnaire was personally distributed by the researchers to the selected students of junior and senior high school and to all the teachers of junior and senior high school of Lucsuhin National High School as respondents. They were given enough time to answer the questionnaire. The data gathered through the instruments were tabulated, analyzed, and interpreted.

RESULTS

Findings generated in the study were as follows: 83 percent of the respondents were aware of the insufficiency of classrooms, libraries, toilets, and other facilities and 87 percent of the respondents were aware of students equipped with technical and/ or vocational skills after K to 12. It also reveals that the perceptions of the respondents conveyed by the challenges and influences to globalization on K to 12 affect them to believe in the curriculum. Further, it was found out that the respondent's awareness of challenges and influences to globalization on K to 12 affected the teacher-students' perception of the curriculum.

DISCUSSIONS

The results encourage parents, teachers, and students to think of the K to 12 curricula not as having two extra years of high school but as two years less of higher education. The graduates of the new educational system would be equipped to join the workforce right away with the help of the electives being offered during grades 11 to 12. The electives or areas of specialization will include academics for those who wish to pursue higher studies, technical-vocational for those who want to acquire employable skills after high school, and sports and arts for those who are inclined in the two fields.
