Abstract

INTRODUCTION

According to CHED Memorandum Order No.4 Series of 2016, graduate education is the apex of the educational system. As such, it shall showcase the best of the academic and intellectual products and process of the system. To continue postgraduate education, individuals must truly realize the term and that they really want the program. This research endeavored to ensure that teachers will continue on their graduate education degree by examining the attitudes of public school teachers in the City of Tagaytay towards the graduate education system and their reasons on pursuing their graduate education.

METHODS

A quantitative correlation research design was utilized using a researcher-made questionnaire. The main source of the data came primarily from 110 Public School Teachers from the City of Tagaytay which is composed of 62 respondents from Elementary Schools and 48 respondents from Secondary Schools.

RESULTS

The teacher-respondents have a positive attitude toward graduate education. Developing a positive attitude towards graduate education plays an important part in their future process of education. Their primary reason for pursuing a graduate education degree is to advance on their professional growth and development, as they want to upgrade their ability or enhance their capacity to educate students. It is expected that through graduate education, teachers will have a positive impact on student learning and achievement. It is vital to determine the reasons for teacher candidates accepting or refusing postgraduate education and to what extent they are ready for the educating process.

DISCUSSIONS

The results demonstrate the need for our government, specifically the Department of Education, to create and provide a support mechanism for teachers to ensure that teachers will be able to continue pursuing their graduate education degree.
