INTRODUCTION
Online applications and examinations are already a trend nowadays. Studies say that online examinations hugely affect the students' way of taking examinations. It was never wrong to be open for changes if it is for the betterment of the benefactors.
METHODS
Quasi-experiment was the method used in the study. The sample of fifty respondents, an equal combination from Grade 11 and Grade 12 STEM students, were divided into two groups; the first 25 students took the online examination and referred as the experimental group while the remaining half took the traditional test and referred to as the controlled group. The collected data (scores) was then analyzed through a statistical test, specifically the t-test for an independent sample.
RESULTS
Out of the fifty respondents, 54% of this population preferred Online Examination than Paper Examination. The online examination assessment obtained an overall average score of 75% while the paper examination assessment obtained an overall average score of 53% which shows that there is a significant difference between the two assessments. Through an interview, the researchers found out that most students find online examination easier and more convenient than the traditional paper examination. One factor that affects the online examiner's performance is the slow internet connection. To fully maximize the online assessment's usage, we propose that our government and internet providers should do something to improve the strength of our country's internet connection.
DISCUSSIONS
The results show that online examination is our stepping stone for more advanced and high-quality education. This will pave the way for our education system to be in line with the system practiced in other countries and hopefully be considered as a powerhouse of learning in the near future.
