Abstract

INTRODUCTION

RA 8525 also known as the Adopt-a-School Program Law (ASP) is a project of the Department of Education responsible for generating projects that would allow participation of the private sector. Those projects would be instrumental in addressing the resource needs of the schools, in providing students quality learning environment and instruction, and in making quality learning experience accessible to the widest extent. The initial study of the researcher revealed that the current status of the ASP in LMES is on the verge of failure because most of the identified stakeholders in the municipality of Rosario, as well other more popular benefactors and supporters of ASPnationwide, are becoming less interested in perpetuating their promised responsibilities for reasons still unknown to the researcher.

METHODS

This descriptive qualitative research was aimed at identifying the contribution of stakeholders in sustaining the ASP at LMES to help pupil-beneficiaries complete their course level in elementary. The respondents of the study consisted of 7identified Department of Education-listed ASP stakeholders from the national level and 5 local ASP supporters from the municipality of Rosario, Batangas, totaling to twelve (12) stakeholders all from the municipality of Rosario, Batangas. The survey questionnaire was prepared, validated, distributed, tallied and interpreted to identify the level of participation of the stakeholders in the ASP of the said school, as well as in determining their contributions to its implementation in terms of educational development, health program, and patronage to include identification of the schemes of the implementation of the aforesaid ASP.

RESULTS

Based on the research, we found out that the attitude of the stakeholders towards ASP in LMES in Sports DevelopmentProgram was negative. We also found out the level of participation of the majority of the stakeholders in the Sports Development Program was not a priority.

DISCUSSIONS

The results demonstrate the need to determine the interests and ideas of parents and educators on their involvement and partnering with ASP by conducting surveys or polls. Schools must develop family-friendly policies and laws to encourage participation by diverse families. They should also provide better information on school and school district policies and procedures and use effective communications tools to ensure timely access to comprehensible and accessible information.
