Assessment of the Effectiveness of K-12 Curriculum Implementation in Selected Elementary Schools in the Division of Rizal: Basis for Policy Recommendation

INTRODUCTION
Education is changing so fast that for schools and universities to cope with new innovations, they should be at the same pace with the tempo of societal changes and technological progress. The schools of today should participate in the educational and social revolution. The curriculum in Philippine schools today has to be geared to the rapid societal changes and the new responsibilities for the new breed of Filipinos. In response to the fast-paced situation in education, R.A. No. 10533 was enacted into law. This is an act enhancing the Philippine Basic Education System by strengthening its curriculum and increasing its number of years and is also known as the "Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013", popularly known as K to 12.
METHODS
Descriptive method of research was used. It involves the manipulation of conditions for the purpose of studying the relative effects of various treatments applied to the subjects of the study. In employing the descriptive research design, a questionnaire-checklist was used as a tool in gathering data pertinent to the research. This study is concerned with determining the extent of effectiveness of the K-12 curriculum implementation in primary and intermediate pupils. Hence, it looks into the existing condition and the emanating culture in the locale of the study while the research is going on.
RESULTS
The study revealed that in terms of intensive training of teachers, both respondents agreed that this component is effective. In terms of the preparation of instructional materials, teachers and principal are " ̃Effective' as indicated in having the highest mean. In terms of provision of physical facilities, the respondent's rated them as "Effective". On the teachers' performance, the response to the questionnaires is interpreted as Very effective. In terms of the pupils' performance, the respondents' rating for these indicators is Effective.
DISCUSSIONS
In light of the findings and significance of the study, the school administrators should utilize the result and use it to enhance programs and activities in the implementation of K-12. They should give work diligently with the Department of Education in the realization of the goals of K-12 curriculum; work hand in hand with the teachers, parents, and students to make the implementation of K-12 more effective; and consistently monitor how the curriculum guidelines and policies are being observed and implemented.
