Abstract

INTRODUCTION

This study was conducted to assess the institutional plans of selected private schools in Batangas. The assessment focused on: the profile of the principal and teacher-respondents in terms of school, age, gender, civil status, educational attainment, the status of employment, teaching experience; the principal and teacher-respondents' assessment in terms of overall plans; and the specific components of the plan.

METHODS

The instrument used was a researcher-made questionnaire adapted from the Office of Planning Service (OPS-2009) of the Department of Education (Department of Education). The t-test for independent samples showed that there is a significant difference between an assessment of the principal and teacher-respondents on the institutional plans in terms of Targets, Policies, Strategies, Programs, and Projects and Resource Allocation.

RESULTS

The results of one-way ANOVA revealed that there were significant differences between the respondents' assessment towards the institutional plans on: overall plan, strategies when they grouped according to age; overall plan, objectives, targets, policies, strategies and programs and projects when they were grouped according to civil status; over-all plan, policies, strategies and program and projects when they were grouped according to their educational attainment; over-all plan, targets, strategies when they were grouped according to their status of employment; strategies when they were grouped according to teaching experience (years).

DISCUSSIONS

To enhance the institutional plans, faculty members of an institution are encouraged to be part in formulating institutional plans. Engaging them in planning will make them more aware of the plans of an institution. Moreover, teachers and administrators are encouraged to engage in programs or activities. To monitor the improvement, it is also recommended to have working committees that will concretize the thrust of the educational institution using internal communication systems as one way of coordinating the institutional plans. Consultations and discussions of institutional plans with community leaders, parents and pupils are also recommended. This conscientious effort will concretize the thrust of the plans. The researcher encourages other researchers to conduct a study of a similar nature.
