Assessing the Grade 12 SHS Work Immersion on their Task Performance Towards Crafting an Enhancement Activity

Abstract

INTRODUCTION

One of the programs brought by the Senior High School Curriculum is the work immersion that gives students a taste of the real world, a glimpse of what lies ahead after they graduate on the essence of a work setting. Work immersion gives enhancement of the student's capabilities and helps them achieve their self-esteem and prepare their physical, social and mental behavior for their college and employment career. This research would create an enhancement activity for more sustainable learning by assessing the task performance of the Grade 12 SHS students on work immersion for crafting enhancement activities.

METHODS

This study employed a descriptive method of research. It used the survey method in the form of situational evaluative in assessing the work habits, work skills, and social skills of Grade 12 Senior High School students from both the Technical-Vocational and Livelihood Strand and Academic Strand of Calamba Integrated School who underwent immersion during the School Year 2017-2018.

RESULTS

As shown in the results, work habits have an implication on the development of their identities. It is important to have the advancement of their capabilities when it comes to their habits. On the other hand, work skills have the implication of a powerful mindset needed for their skills. However, social skills had the implication of interrelationships that needed their social interaction at all times.

DISCUSSIONS

The students fully met the job requirements in terms of work habits, work skills, and social skills. Work habits develop their identity for the advancement of their capabilities while work skills set their mind for eyeing for versatile opportunities to boost their confidence and gratitude. On the other hand, social skills develop their interrelationship abilities to certain tasks.
