INTRODUCTION
There were learning competencies for Araling Panlipunan 5 that were consecutively least mastered by learners for the last two years. These were addressed by producing a tool that was localized and contextualized wherein pupils can get a bigger grasp of what they should learn. This study aimed to realize how Learning Modules in Araling Panlipunan 5 made by selected teachers throughout the Division of Cavite could lead to an explanation of pupils' advancement and to determine whether the use of such materials has effects on the academic performance of pupils.
METHODS
The study used an experimental research design where the researcher gathered the data from the AP pre-test and post-test Learning Outcomes Assessment Results of Grade V-Sampaguita (30 pupils/Experimental Group) and Grade V-Waling-waling (28 pupils/ Controlled Group). The experimental design involved how the researcher exposed one experimental group to the intervention. The researcher used learning modules for the experimental group while lecture-discussion for the controlled group. T-test was used to determine if there was a significant difference between the mean of the two groups.
RESULTS
The abilityof both groups was equated at the beginning of the study since the computed t-value -0.61 was lower than the critical values 2.00 and 2.39 at 0.05 and 0.02 levels of significance. In this case, we should accept the null hypothesis that there was no significant difference between the results of pre-tests at the very start. On the other hand, learning was obviously seen on both groups after the study since their means increased but the use of the learning modules in teaching Araling Panlipunan outscored the pupils under the controlled group. We should then reject the null hypothesis since the t-value during the post-test of 4.37 was greater than the critical values 2.00 and 2.40 at 0.05 and 0.02 levels of significance which can now be interpreted as significantly different.
DISCUSSIONS
The results confirmed that pupils can master the competencies aligned to their Grade Level provided that they were equipped with varied materials, like the use of AP Learning Modules, that will lead to their advancement. There was a need for more writers of learners' materials, which supports the call of the Program I-Likha in the Division of Cavite, providing our learners with localized and contextualized tools that will make them gain knowledge and discover more.
