Abstract

INTRODUCTION

Good character education is a good education. Schools today face enormous challenges in educating all young people. By providing the youth with basic academic knowledge and skills as well as promoting their character development, schools can help solve a variety of social problems among the youth.

METHODS

The descriptive and survey method was applied to gather, analyze, and interpret the prevailing findings of this research. The methods used clearly identified the need to determine the necessity for character development among pupils.

RESULTS

This study revealed that a pupil’s character can be developed as early as grade one through the following means: by caring and supportive relationships in the classroom and throughout the school, by modeling positive behavior, and by establishing social and emotional interrelationship with elders and peers.

DISCUSSIONS

The school should make a deliberate effort to establish its core ethical values. It should provide the justification for these core values and the behavioral definitions are widely known throughout the school and the parent community. The character development of the pupils should be a collaborative effort among the administration, teachers, and parents of Talaga Elementary School.
