An Assessment of the Secondary Academic Reinforcers of the Public Elementary School at the City of Santa Rosa, Laguna

INTRODUCTION
Motivating pupils in the greatest way possible is extremely important for every teacher in grades K-12, especially in today's educational climate when schools are continuously under pressure to improve test scores, responsibility, and accountability. A lot of secondary academicians use tangible, social and privilege reinforcers but the teachers have difficulties determining which of these are beneficial to the pupils. In this study, the researcher has assessed the different secondary academic reinforcers used in the City of Santa Rosa, Laguna last School Year 2016 -2017.
METHODS
This study used a descriptive correlational design. This research design was used to obtain information by assessing teachers’ and principals’ use of secondary academic reinforcers. A survey questionnaire was used to gather data on the academic performance of the pupils in Science. The data were analyzed and interpreted with the use of appropriate statistical measures.
RESULTS
In the light of the study, it was revealed that the two groups of respondents strongly agreed on using the secondary reinforcers such as tangible, social and privilege in the teaching-learning process. This was revealed by the grand mean of 3.75 for the tangible and privilege reinforcers and a grand mean of 3.71 for the social reinforcers. The study also revealed that the use of these secondary reinforcers had a positive impact on the schools' academic achievement, especially in Science, through the computed mean rating of 88.98. The results of the study were analyzed and interpreted. Each result was supported by the studies and literature which underpinned and strengthened the research investigation. At the same time, the use of secondary academic reinforcers was also supported by the responses of the selected teachers.
DISCUSSIONS
The findings of the study simply implied that secondary academic reinforcers are beneficial both for the pupils and the teachers as they help in improving academic performance. Importance of giving rewards to be strengthened and emphasized to the pupils. The use of these reinforcers in the classroom setting motivates the learners to perform and complete their tasks well. This eventually results in good instruction and acquisition of skills.
