Abstract

INTRODUCTION

"Cosmetology is the study and application of beauty treatments" (Florida Vocational Schools, 2011). Cosmetology careers often lead to hairdressers and hairstylists paths. When taken seriously and achieved with a diploma, however, the path leads to a wider range of careers involving skin care, hair care, treatments, and the likes.A cosmetology career does not only involve skills in applying beauty treatments and creativity. It encompasses a set of skills built in communication, service, paying attention to small details, and ability to sit or stand for a long period of time. Individuals interested in taking cosmetology must be people-persons and are able to discuss the customers' likes and dislikes. It is also important that they not only rely on the customers' decisions but must also recommend what they think will be the most suitable for them.Cosmetology professionals around the globe often end up in salons, spas, barber shops, hotels, resorts, and other locations where people look for relaxation. These people generate income and establish their names by word-of-mouth and other promotions. They are also able to practice, apply, and develop their skills and creative inputs.

METHODS

The data for this research will be gathered with the use of survey forms. Students will be asked to answer forms after attending cosmetology seminars and programs to record their impact on the interests of the students. Survey forms will be collated and tabulated against the number of enrollees for the course in the coming years after the implementation of the program. The enrolment population will be recorded. The head of the school must be informed of the analysis as well as the parents and the students themselves.

RESULTS

Programs and seminars about cosmetology are seen as effective ways for properly introducing the course to the students. The gender-bound nature of the course is also seen as a hindrance in increasing the number of enrollees. The proper discussion of the scopes of the course is a great solution to this. Fundraising activities and solicitations may ease the limitations in the resources needed in the course. This will encourage more students to take the major due to lots of hands-on activities.

DISCUSSIONS

The result shows that if the importance and scope of this course were properly introduced and both parents and students, the increasing number taken this course were properly achieved.
