Advantages of Science and Technology Based Instruction on the Academic Performance of Primary Pupils: Basis for an Action Plan

Abstract

INTRODUCTION

Educational technology is affected by many things such as social, cultural, political, economic and educational changes. Computers are now being seen as an essential family and workplace technology due to our increasing reliance on them.

Therefore, the authors focused on presenting the findings and conclusions which can have overarching implications for the teacher. educators. ACTION RESEARCH QUESTIONS

This study attempts to assess the advantages of the use of technology in science instructions and its relationship to the academic performance of the intermediate pupils in Doña Maria Laurel Platon Memorial School.

Specifically, it will provide answers to the following questions:

What is the extent of implementation of the technology-based instruction in the science classrooms as perceived by the teachers and pupils in terms of?

Media usage

Authentic assessment

ICT integration

What is the performance level of the pupils who are using technologies as reflected in their second periodical grades?

What are the advantages of this study to ICT integration administration?

METHODS

A. Participants and/or another source of data and information

This study involved a total of 60 select intermediate students from Doña Maria Laurel Platon Memorial School. Random sampling was used by the researcher to find the target respondents.

The researcher utilized the descriptive research method through the survey technique and chose it for its appropriateness to the problem.

The questionnaire was the major instrument used in gathering data. It was divided into two parts: the profile of the respondents, and the questionnaire proper.

RESULTS

The validation of the instrument was done by administering the survey instrument to a group of respondents.

In terms of Individual performance, the eighth statement that says "I am able to participate in the discussion because I am provided with technology at home, like the Internet, to research about the topics to be discussed” has the highest frequency among the responses.

DISCUSSIONS

Students are very fortunate because their early knowledge of facts, information, skills, and values may be drawn from their world. As its social responsibility, education takes care of the proper development of children and safeguards them from the onslaught of the harmful effects of the environment mentioned. Despite constraints, the teachers we interviewed were, generally speaking, open rather than resistant to change, and committed to using ICT in the classroom.
