Project RESETAbstract
INTRODUCTION
The study was conducted at Ladislao Diwa Elementary School with selected grade three learners as the recipient of this research. Sustainable development is a common jargon in the 21st-century world. It tasks every individual to act in a manner that is towards the perpetuation of our natural resources and the responsibility in the utilization of it. Lualhati (2016), citing the works of UNDP, elaborated the role of human practices and their contribution to the degradation of our natural resources. Despite actions by the local and national government in maintaining our resources, circumstances involving human activities still threaten our environment.
METHODS
Using systematic sampling, the researchers used three classes from the grade 3 level. Referring to the Krejcie and Morgan Table of Samples, it provided the researcher 80 respondents (for a population size of 100 with a 95% confidence level and 5% margin of error). The data of the research will come from the Grade 3 pupils of Ladislao Diwa Elementary School. Ethical considerations were made by asking permission from the school principal and department heads in conducting the survey.
RESULTS
After the results were tabulated and analyzed, an action plan will be created from it. If the results revealed a strong significant relationship between environmental literacy and eco-friendly strategies, the researcher will design programs that will intensify student's participation in the eco-friendly practices of the school. Moreover, the researcher will cooperate with the school head, Science Coordinator and Advisers in the implementation of the program. If the results revealed no significant relationship, the researcher will focus on strengthening the environmental literacy of students by providing them awareness actions and seminars regarding the human role in maintaining the environment.
DISCUSSIONS
This study will utilize the on-going RESET (restoration of the ecosystem in school thru eco-friendly techniques) Program of the school. The researchers will measure the impact of the program on the environmental literacyof the students through its different strategies. From these two objectives, the researcher will create an action plan that may strengthen or intensify the programs of the school in relation to ecology.
