Abstract

INTRODUCTION

Among the five (5) subjects, Math has the highest number of failed students. Based on the data gathered, during their first quarter, two hundred twenty-three students (223) failed and is forty-four percent (44%) of the total population of Grade 7 students. Second is English with two hundred (200) failed students or thirty-nine point five percent (39.53%). Next, are Science, Filipino, and Araling Panlipunan. For the last three years, many students became repeater and conditional because of Math. To increase the numeracy and passing of the students, teachers used Active Learning in their intervention classes.

METHODS

This action research used experimental design. The respondents of the studies were forty-four (44) Grade 7 students from the school year 2017-2018.

RESULTS

The result showed that seventy-seven percent (77%) of the Grade 7 students passed the intervention program using ALIEN. After the rollout, eighty-eight percent (88%) of the students attended the intervention. After the fourth quarter, based on the SF6 report, there was no conditional students and the retained decreased by 1.37%.

DISCUSSIONS

Using Active Learning and intensive monitoring of the intervention program are effective ways of improving students' performance in Mathematics.
