Abstract

INTRODUCTION

Technology is being used in educational settings that is why the government, through the Department of Education, has made a commitment to bring it to the classrooms. Indeed, technological media can help expand the opportunities for Filipino students to improve their skills, maximize their potentials, and prepare them to be globally competitive in the 21st century. Kaylaway II Elementary School, is one of the small elementary schools in the Nasugbu East District, is composed of 261 pupils. There is only one section per grade level. The school has available technological resources such as desktop computers, printers, overhead projectors, televisions, and compact disc players. On the other hand, teachers have laptops, tablets, and cell phones. Even though these ICT devices have become a significant part of the students and teachers' everyday lives, they are only utilized for preparing school reports, making lesson plans, computing of grades, and posting in social media. It is not fully maximized as an instructional material in teaching and learning. Generally, teaching using multimedia is now permeating the educational system as a tool for effective teaching and learning.

METHODS

The study includes the description of the respondents, the research instruments, the construction of the instrument, the data gathering procedure and the statistical treatment of data.

RESULTS

The readily available instructional materials such as textbooks, pictures/charts, magazines, and newspapers were the highly utilized instructional materials. Instructional materials which still need to be developed such as PowerPoint presentations, video clips, demonstration videos, and multimedia-based materials were moderately utilized.

DISCUSSIONS

There is no significant difference between the assessment of the respondents on the acceptability of the developed multimedia-based instructional materials. The developed multimedia-based instructional materials were highly acceptable.
