Abstract

INTRODUCTION

In the 21st century, electronics has conquered the modern technologies and innovations. Likewise, different countries all over the world participate and display their innovations in international competitions. All of their works are geared towards making high-tech devices to help others. In our community and schools, people are busy with their works and studies that sometimes, they do not give enough time to clean dusty glassware and souvenirs as removing dust in small areas are a bit difficult to do. Carelessness is another factor to consider why some people do not bother to clean their gadgets. To help them, the researchers made a device that is easy to be used, handy and effective. This device was called Battery-Operated Soft Dust Remover.

METHODS

The experimental method of research was used in the study to present a battery-operated soft dust remover and to determine its acceptability in terms of its effectiveness, functionality, and durability. Ten (10) selected students of BSIE IV-A of Laguna State Polytechnic University, Sta. Cruz Campus, Sta. Cruz, Laguna, ten (10) teachers from different schools, ten (10) housewives from different places served as the respondents and they were selected using stratified sampling.

RESULTS

The researcher determined that the Battery-Operated Soft Dust Remover is acceptable in terms of these three factors: (1) in its effectiveness, it had an average mean of 4.1 and the standard deviation of .23 with a remark of "agree", (2) in its functionality, the evaluators gave it an average mean of 4.12 and a standard deviation of .16 with a remark of "agree"; lastly, (3) in its durability, it got an average mean of 4.19 and standard deviation of .16 with an equivalent remark of "agree". This revealed that the ratings that were given in terms of effectiveness, functionality, and durability were feasible.

DISCUSSIONS

This prototype had undergone trials and revisions. On the first trial of the study, the finished product was not good and effective. The researchers replaced the dynamo with a more powerful one like that in a fan motor. On the second trial, the product was prepared, the brush was too hard and the appearance was not too appealing. The researchers decided to change the brush to a softer one and the casing to a colorful one. The third trial resulted in a good product. The "Battery-Operated Soft Dust Remover" became effective, functional and more appealing. Based on the results of the try-out and revision, the Battery-Operated Soft Dust Remover became acceptable in terms of the qualities.
