INTRODUCTION
Behavioral problems are commonly seen in children of OFW parents. These children are often narcissistic and materialistic. This could come from the fact that they lack personal interaction with their parents, resulting in the showering of material goods from their parents in compensation for their strained relationship.
METHODS
The Descriptive Method of Research was used. The Interview will be the main data gathering instrument to find out the problems encountered by the students with OFW parents. There are 41 respondents from Coral na Munti National High School for the SY 2017-2018 whose parents are working abroad regardless of the country where they are working and the nature of their job. The survey questionnaires will be distributed to the respondents.
RESULTS
Teenagers, mostly males, usually encountered conflicts that require advice from their fathers. Looking for a greener pasture in other countries to alleviate the economic status of the family, the parents’ distance to their family tends to develop gaps that brought out more serious problems to their family and even worse for their children. The topmost problem encountered is the proper caring and guidance of parents to their children, affecting the attitudes and behavior of the students in terms of their lack of encouragement and motivation to study.
DISCUSSIONS
The result demonstrates that students neglect their studies because of the lack of support from their parents. With the money they receive from their parents, they become dependent and, later on, develop the attitude that even if they will not finish their studies, they will still survive and enjoy everything they want. They tend to be very extravagant in spending money without thinking of the sacrifices of their parents being away from home just to support their needs.
