Academic Performance and Involvement of Parents among Grade 1 Pupils as Basis for a Proposed Action Plan

INTRODUCTION
Academic performance labels the observable manifestation of knowledge, skills, concepts, and understanding and ideas. It is usually referred to as the students' performance in school and serves as the basis of their knowledge to certain subjects. This is usually measured through different evaluation techniques such as quizzes and examinations. The acquisitions of particular grades on examinations indicate the students' abilities, mastery of the content, and skills in applying learned knowledge to particular situations. Students' success is generally judged on their examination performance.
METHODS
This research explores and evaluates the relationship between parents' involvement and academic performance of the grade one pupils through the use of questionnaires, observations, and unstructured interviews. The data collected through a questionnaire was qualified and subjected to statistical analysis. The questionnaire is made up of the parent's profile such as age, educational attainment, and occupation. The second part of the questionnaire gathered information based on parental involvement in grade one activities in terms of curriculum decisions, parent-teachers conference, PTA projects, and instruction.
RESULTS
The researcher had formulated an enhance parents' participation to address the result in order to improve parents' involvement in school activities and further uplift. the academic performance of grade 1 pupils. When parents participated in their children's schooling, students may experience more academic and social success. Parents' awareness and interest in their children's learning and school activities model for their children the importance of school which may lead to positive behaviors.
DISCUSSIONS
The researcher recommended an enhanced parents' participation to improve the parents' involvement in school activities and further uplift the academic performance of grade one pupils. The proposed enhanced school program should be recommended for implementation to improve the parents' involvement in school programs and activities.
