Abstract

INTRODUCTION

Over the past decade, considerable research emerged the importance of Child Protection Policy. This provides special protection to children who are gravely threatened or endangered by circumstances affecting their normal development and over which they have no control and it also assists the concerned agencies in their rehabilitation. Though there is a Child Protection Policy, children are still experiencing violence and abuse. Hence, this study was conducted.

METHODS

Descriptive-evaluative design is employed in this research to investigate the frequency of the learner's abuse cases at home as observed by their teacher-advisers. The quantitative approach was used in data collection. In the quantitative approach, a survey questionnaire was utilized.

RESULTS

Based on the results of the study, out of the one hundred fifty (150) respondents, 5% of them sometimes experience physical abuse, 3% of them always experience psychological abuse, 1% of them sometimes experience sexual abuse, and 14% of them always experience economic abuse from their parents or guardian.

DISCUSSIONS

The result demonstrates the need for the school to conduct a seminar on the Child Protection Policy (CPP) program to help children understand their rights and to educate them about the different kinds of abuse that they might experience or they are experiencing right now. The school should establish a Child Protection Policy (CPP) desks to cater to women and children who are victims of violence. A CPP program should be integrated into every subject area to educate children about their rights and to equip them with knowledge on the ways they protect themselves from certain kinds of violence. Similar studies should be conducted to all students of the school to assess the rampancy of children’s violence in the community. Similar studies should also be conducted by the barangay workers to survey the number of children experiencing violence and to help them cope and recover from their painful experiences.
