INTRODUCTION
21st-century learners are considered as millennial students because of their vast exposure to different technologies. With this, a study was conducted to assess student's preference on the use of technology in the learning process, particularly in taking up quizzes, answering homework and performing activities specifically in English and identifying the learners' perceived advantages of Edmodo. Edmodo is a free and secure educational learning network used to provide a simple way for teachers to create and manage an online classroom community as well as enables students to connect and work with their classmates, teachers anywhere and anytime.
METHODS
The study was conducted to Grade 10 students of Pansol National High School who are enrolled in Edmodo; thus, purposively selected. The descriptive research design was utilized, which dwells into the millennial preference on the use of an online program to improve their scholastic performance. It is sought to determine whether a technology-based program is preferred and useful among the students.
RESULTS
The results of the study showed that the respondents preferred to use Edmodo for quizzes since they can read the question clearer, and they can immediately view their scores. Also, the program was preferred by the students as a tool for making and submitting their homework because they become more committed and encouraged since the response of the teacher is fast. Use of Edmodo also made the students motivated to answers and made online activities. However, there are also factors that affect their preference of using the online program like the enhancement of communication skills since communication will be done through chat and online messages. Furthermore, the availability of internet connection at home among students also affected their preference.
DISCUSSIONS
To realize the proposed innovation and intervention, ICT (Edmodo session) should become a regular part of the Collaborative Learning session, which shall be done once a week. Additionally, an increase of the internet speed will also be proposed to make sure that as teachers are conducting their session, students can have their reasonable access to the online program thus, they can enjoy it while learning.
