A Proposed School-Based Action Plan Based on the Prospects and Problems in the Implementation of Learning Action Cell

Abstract

INTRODUCTION

Action learning is an educational process where the participants study their actions and experiences to improve performance. The focus of this study is to find out the extent and implementation of a preferred action learning set of public elementary school teachers, which can be geared to learning personal development at the professional and managerial levels.

METHODS

The study is drawing on 21 public elementary teachers of Halang Elementary School. Descriptive-Inferential research was utilized to describe the current status of the extent of how the members of the Learning Action Cell perform their functions and responsibilities as assessed by the teachers and the data were collected through survey questionnaires. For the statistical treatment of data, frequency, weighted mean, and ANOVA were used.

RESULTS

The study found out that the implementation of the Learning Action Cell in the School is To a Great Extent. Based on the findings, the study concluded that the school could come up with activities that will enhance their performance as members of LAC. By the virtue of finding and conclusions, it was recommended that the school must; (1) have monitoring and evaluation to determine the positive outcome and areas to enhance and improve, (2) empowered school-based seminars, training and programs for teachers, (3) give proper orientation and mentoring for starting teachers, (4) share equal opportunities to gain knowledge and opportunities, and most of all, (5) contribute to the improvement of teaching and learning.

DISCUSSIONS

The result demonstrates that the various indicators in every function and responsibilities of all the LAC leaders and members are performed to a great extent. The finding affirms that the school implements the mandate of the Department of Education, as stated in D.O. No. 35,s. 2016, otherwise known as "The Learning Action Cell as a K to 12 Basic Education Program School-Based Continuing Professional Development Strategy for the Improvement of Teaching and Learning." Since the school is abiding theDepartment of Education Mandate, adapting the proposed action plan to enhance the implementation of the LAC in the school is highly recommended.
