Abstract

INTRODUCTION

Educators agree that prompt and regular school attendance is essential to a student's success. Absenteeism in school is the habit of staying away from school without providing a genuine or any reason for not attending classes. Absenteeism is a truant behavior that negatively affects the performance among students. Regularly going to school is essential for a student's education and social skills chronically absent students are at a disadvantage both socially and academically. They miss out on critical stages of social interaction and development with their peers.

METHODS

The descriptive research method was used in this study. It describes with emphasis what exist such current conditions, practices, situations, or any phenomena. A total of thirty (30) were requested to answer the questionnaire.

RESULTS

Results showed that health is the primary reason why students are absent from their classes. Pupils encountered difficulties in Classroom atmosphere, personal attitude, teacher factor, and home-related reasons. The proposed development plan may help motivate pupils to attend classes regularly.

DISCUSSIONS

The results demonstrate the need to make a proposed developmental plan to minimize absenteeism among the Grade III-Rose pupils of Balisong Elementary School. Consultation among authorities can be done to address gaps that may be encountered in its implementation.
