Abstract

INTRODUCTION

Every Filipino child deserves to have a quality education; this was a great challenge in our country. Since 2003 the Department of Education is implementing Brigada Eskwela as part of the Adopt-A-School Program. Brigada Eskwela is a prolonged week activity in the whole country which enables teachers, parents, students, alumni, community members, government and non-government organizations to work hand-in-hand in doing minor repairs, repaints and clean-ups on their schools in preparation for the start of the school year.

METHODS

The proponents used a Narrative Inquiry method of Qualitative Research. For more in-depth and more detailed descriptions of the experiences of the schools, the proponent will have an interview of the School Heads and Adopt-A-School Coordinators of participating schools such as Trece Martires City Elementary School, Trece Martires City National High School, Tanza Trade National High School, and Alfonso Central Elementary School. By engaging participants in conversation through less structured interview questions, sharing stories and experiences.

RESULTS

The Brigada Eskwela Hall of Famers in the Division of Cavite gave hope and inspired people inside and outside the public schools they were involved in schools through generating resources in any form. District Supervisors, School Heads, and Teachers have been motivated to look for more possibilities in looking ways on how to increase the participation and commitment of education partners in mobilizing all of its resources not just by taking the role in planning but more importantly in its implementation.

DISCUSSIONS

Brigada EskwelaHall of Famers has been continued doing their best practices in terms of establishing linkages and partnerships that helped them to generate resources for the funding of Brigada Eskwela accomplishments. We also identified the challenges of the School Heads, teachers and other staff before, during and after the conduct of Brigada Eskwela and how did the schools sustain their exemplary performance for three (3) consecutive years in the Brigada Eskwela implementation that made their schools "Hall of Famers" and ascertain how did Brigada Eskwela affects the school's morale as a whole. The stories that will be presented in this research will surely demonstrate how much the communities cared for schools and their experiences will be great testimonies to motivate and help all the schools in the country particularly the public schools in the division of Cavite Province.
