Abstract

INTRODUCTION

Master teachers are regarded as "best" or "expert" teachers in the school environment. To describe the duties and responsibilities of master teachers in the District of Padre Garcia is the aim of this descriptive study. This study aims to establish the concept of a master teacher in the educational system and the significance of research about the roles and responsibilities of the master teacher to be active and efficient role models to educators. Also, to come up with programs and training to assist master teachers in carrying out their roles and responsibilities to be effective and efficient in their position.

METHODS

Respondents of this study were male and female teachers from public schools in the district of Padre Garcia. A survey questionnaire was adapted from the previous study was equally given to respondents. An equal number of respondents were taken from each stratum of the population. Each school was given three sets of questionnaires to be answered by some faculty members. Surveys were distributed, gathered, tabulated, and analyzed.

RESULTS

The results indicate that master teachers focus and give importance to "maintaining harmonious relations with superiors, students, public officials, and co-teachers." As part of their duties and responsibilities. While master teachers focus less on their duty and responsibility as "as a demonstration teacher." DISCUSSIONS

As always observed by the teachers, the master teachers mostly attend professional meetings, in-service training, and related activities for self-growth and advancement and monitor the maintenance of discipline between and among teachers and learners. However, it often observed them serve as a demonstration teacher and conducts demonstration teaching, sharing effective techniques or strategies and helps identify potential demonstration teachers. These findings implied significant action for the improvement in carrying out their roles as master teachers.
