INTRODUCTION
For quite some time, the school had this bottleneck experience to identify learners who are struggling to master some lessons. The 4 o'clock habit strategy is initiated an intervention designed to help improve the students' academic performance specifically on the least learned competencies. The students were taught with the use of science work-text. The use of science work-text was also based on the LLC. The 4 o'clock habit was implemented to create an extra zone of learning and provide a remedy to the forever-existing problem of assessing students in the field of science which would improve students' academic performance as an outcome.
METHODS
The study had utilized a descriptive research design that describes the importance of the 4 o'clock Habit Strategy implementation through compared pre-test and post-test of fifteen students by using science work-text. After the conducted pre-test of grade 7 students, the LLC in the pre-test were identified and used as a basis to be taught in the conduct of 4 o'clock Habit Strategy. Students willbe assessed by the teacher every 4 o'clock in the afternoon with the used science work-text. After all the conducted interventions, post-test were conducted to evaluate if there are a significant difference and effect of 4 o'clock habit strategy to improve the academic performance.
RESULTS
After a long run of innovation from pre to post activities, the researcher has come to a conclusion that the pre-test without 4 o'clock habit strategy has a percentage mean of 19.85 which is interpreted as low, while after 4 o'clock habit strategy with the use of science work-text as intervention, the mean percentage increased to 38.25, which is interpreted as very high.
Furthermore, it could also be concluded that the 4 o'clock habit strategy induced a significant difference on the academic performance thus the t-value is equal to -14.54 and p-value of 0, which means that the 4 o'clock habit strategy has high evidence in improving the academic performance. Since the Eta2 value is 0.839, the 4 o'clock habit strategy, therefore, has a large effect on improving the academic performance of grade 7 students in science.
DISCUSSIONS
The results demonstrate that the 4 o'clock Habit strategy implementation improves students' academic performance. The effective practice of this innovation will help students master least-learned competencies. Moreover, the continuous implementation of this 4 o'clock habit strategy assures the success of the innovation.
