Abstract

INTRODUCTION

Today’s generation of the 21st century is rotating its orbit to the pieces of changes, modernization, and to the world of the contemporary person, wherein it has a direct impact not only for the people and the way of life but also in education. The 21st-century challenges in education include the new technologies and 21st-century skills.

The researcher chose this topic to determine the 21st-Century Challenges in Education and its impact on academic performance of the students and to visualize the positive outcomes of these challenges.

METHODS

In this study, the researchers used a quantitative descriptive research design. Furthermore, they used a survey questionnaire to gather the data needed where one hundred (100) respondents were selected through random sampling.

RESULTS

The results showed that the primary 21st-century challenges in education are technological advancement. The statement “effective integration of technology into classrooms can and will result in higher levels of student achievement” is considered as having an impact on the academic performance of the students. Moreover, one of the great positive outcomes of the 21st-century challenges in education is that students will be equipped with the tools they need in today's technologically based education.

DISCUSSIONS

Based on the gathered data, the researchers found out that new technologies and the 21st-century skills are considered as the 21st-century challenges in education. These challenges have an impact on the academic performance of the students particularly in their achievement and quality of works. Identifying and studying the 21st-century challenges in education may give a positive outcome that is necessary not only for the students but also for the educators. They will gain a comprehensive view of the challenges and opportunities in the 21st century and will be prepared and aware of handling and facing those challenges.
